a. Not Applicable

b. Responses to Question #15 (What other coastal decision support tools (including models) would improve your planning practice/analysis/research?) are provided in the Raw Survey Response Matrix.

Table 5j lists 36 tools for which Pacific Islands coastal region respondents were asked to rate importance for planning practice, analysis, and research. The five tools with the highest percentage of very high or high importance ratings from respondents are:

  1. Digital Shoreline Analysis System1 (80%);
  2. Impervious Surface Analysis Tool (76%);
  3. C-CAP Land Cover Analysis2 (72%);
  4. Cumulative Impacts Model3 (72%); and
  5. Hazards U.S. Multi-Hazard (HAZUS-MH) (72%).

The five tools with the highest percentage of low or very low importance or "Not Applicable" ratings from respondents are:

  1. Electronic Navigational Chart Handler (69%);
  2. Nautical Chart Viewer (63%);
  3. Historical Hurricane Tracks IMS (55%);
  4. Chart Reprojector4 (52%); and
  5. Multi-Purpose Marine Cadastre (44%).

Endnotes

1. Digital Shoreline Analysis System computes rate-of-change statistics from multiple historic shoreline positions

2. C-CAP Land Cover Atlas enables users to view regional Coastal Change Analysis Program (C-CAP) land cover data and explore land cover changes and trends.

3. Cumulative Impacts Model provides estimates of human impacts on ocean ecosystems from a host of activities.

4. Chart Reprojector allows users to "re-project" digital NOAA nautical charts with this stand-alone application.
