b. Responses to Question #15 (What other coastal decision support tools (including models) would improve your planning practice/analysis/research?) are provided in the Raw Survey Response Matrix.

Table 5k lists 36 tools for which West Coast coastal region respondents were asked to rate their importance for planning practice, analysis, and research. The five tools with the highest percentage of very high or high importance ratings from respondents are:

  1. Impervious Surface Analysis Tool (61%);
  2. Coastal County Snapshots (61%);
  3. Habitat Priority Planner1 (56%);
  4. CanVis Visual Simulation (53%); and
  5. Cumulative Impacts Model2 (52%).

The five tools with the highest percentage of low or very low importance ratings from respondents are:

  1. Electronic Navigational Chart Handler (40%);
  2. Practitioner's Toolkit for Marine Conservation Agreements (39%);
  3. Multi-Purpose Marine Cadastre (37%);
  4. Nautical Chart Viewer (37%); and
  5. Historical Hurricane Tracks IMS (36%).

The five tools with the highest percentage of respondents rating the tool as "Not Applicable" are:

  1. Historical Hurricane Tracks IMS (40%);
  2. Electronic Navigational Chart Handler (34%);
  3. Nautical Chart Viewer (34%);
  4. MarineMap (31%); and
  5. Practitioner's Toolkit for Marine Conservation Agreements (31%).

Endnotes

1. Habitat Priority Planner helps to identify priority locations for conservation and restoration planning.

2. The Cumulative Impacts Model Provides estimates of human impacts on ocean ecosystems from a host of activities.
