Resort and Tourism Division | The Resort and Tourism Division fosters interaction among resort and tourism planners and functions as a clearinghouse for resort and tourism information for our members. Members come from the mountains, the shores, gaming resorts, NASCAR tracks, national parks, wildlife refuges, historic communities, and every other place people want to visit for entertainment, natural beauty, or relaxation. We provide a network for the exchange of ideas and techniques among resort and tourism planners and the communities they serve. Division members receive a quarterly e-newsletter and are invited to submit articles and newspaper clippings for inclusion in the newsletter. Members also are invited to participate in the APA National Planning Conference by volunteering to serve as a speaker or managing the R & T booth each year. Members are invited to use the booth to display their recent resort and tourism planning work. Student members are encouraged to submit their work for the annual Carole R. Bloom Award in early January. The award is presented each year at the national conference. Our Mission: - To provide a network for the exchange of resort and tourism planning ideas and techniques
- To promote resort and tourism planning as a distinct planning career
- To conduct and/or sponsor research and develop and publicize techniques dealing with the issues common to resort and tourism-oriented projects and communities and to share research and techniques with others
- To provide specialized expertise to APA and its membership
