Outstanding Resort & Tourism Planning Work Carole R. Bloom Award The Program This award was created in the name of Carole R. Bloom, an active American Planning Association Resort & Tourism Division member who helped to create the Division in the early 1990s. Carole chaired the division for four years, 1992-1996. In an effort to "re-invent" herself during her struggle with terminal cancer, Carole has agreed to let her spirit carry on in the work of planning students with interest in Resort and Tourism Planning. This second annual award was offered to both an individual project and a team project within an accredited Planning Program (in honor of Carole's years served on the Planning Accreditation Board). The goal of this award is to bring more interest to the specialty field of Resort and Tourism planning, and to encourage study and design work in this field. Students are encouraged to submit copies of their work completed in either 2005 or 2006 for consideration. Projects might include a plan addressing tourism, an interpretative master plan for a resort community, a drawing depicting a project that could help to promote tourism in a community, or similar projects and research. The deadline to submit a project for review and consideration of the award was Friday, January 5, 2007. Check back for information on next year's award. |
