More than 80 programs are listed in this guide, including those administered by the two primary federal housing offices, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Agriculture Department's Rural Housing Service. The guide also contains other, less well-known housing-related funds from sources such as the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Each description is a page or two in length and includes a summary of the program's purpose, its eligibility requirements, the terms of the loans or grants available, and additional comments where appropriate. Websites, office addresses, and phone numbers are provided for readers wishing to learn more or obtain application information.
