American Housing Survey

A vast amount of information and data about housing units and households in the United States can be found in the 2001 American Housing Survey (AHS) Report. Biannually, the U.S. Census Bureau conducts the AHS on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The survey provides data on:

American Housing Survey for the United States: 2001 presents the results of the 2001 national survey in tabular format. National data are collected every other year from a fixed core sample of about 50,000 homes, plus new construction. The survey started in 1973 and has had the same core sample since 1985, letting you see homes and households changing over the years.
