Website Review: Green Schools Initiative

July 2010

This website does not stop with assessment; it provides resources and guidelines for all interested in taking action and creating a "green school," from the school board to the teachers and staff to the students.

The resources on the website include "7 Steps to a Green School," practical guidelines for creating and enacting long-term "green school" plans. There are links to grants if a school requires additional funding for green initiatives. Teachers can find a plethora of resources for enhancing curricula. Educators and parents can also access the full report "The Little Green Schoolhouse: Thinking Big about Environmental Health and Ecological Sustainability in K-12 Schools in the U.S," which details the four pillars for healthy, sustainable schools.

The Green Schools Initiative is a project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs, a nonprofit, charitable organization supporting projects that promote social and ecological justice.
