Education for a Sustainable Future

With funding from the U.S. Department of Education and support from a variety of corporations, the Center for a Sustainable Future, a division of The Concord Consortium, and Cobb County (Georgia) Public Schools have developed Education for a Sustainable Future, a K-12 curriculum on sustainability.

Over 40 activities are available for downloading from the Center's website. The curriculum is organized according to the following themes:

* Designing Sustainable Communities
* Global Issues
* Stewardship of Resources
* Sustainable Economics
* Thinking About and Affecting the Future

The Center has developed several software programs that can be downloaded to support the curriculum, including Community Planner, a spatial modeling and visualization tool for community design and evaluation.

The project website also contains an extensive Resources section and a Teacher Center with tutorials and discussion forums for K-12 teachers.
