Paving the American Dream: UNC Wilmington is actively involved in education outreach programs that address the growing concern of growth and its related environmental and economic issues. As part of this effort, a television documentary was produced and an educators' resource Web site was designed to complement middle and high school curriculum (grades 6-12).

Save Our Land, Save Our Towns (Classroom Version): A public television documentary designed to show how sprawl came about, why it’s bad, and what we can do about it.

Subdivide and Conquer: Explores the consequences of sprawl, the history of this automobile-centered pattern of development, and notions about the endless frontier and rugged individualism. The film also suggests remedies, and takes us to places where sound public policy and good land use planning have stemmed the tide of sprawl.
