Youth Community Video Program Takes OffAugust 2005 Lights, Camera...Leadership!
The Rural School and Community Trust has a new curriculum, entitled Lights, Camera...Leadership!, which guides high school students in “making and premiering a community video of some important issue in their community” (from the website).
The goals of the video project are to inform community members of the issue and present both successes and challenges in confronting it.
According to the website,
“Students learn how to run focus groups, conduct effective interviews, facilitate a group, develop a compelling storyline and work as an effective production team member. They develop marketable video production skills along with standards-based communication skills, reasoning and problem solving, personal development and civic responsibility.”
The program was developed by the Orton Family Foundation before being transferred to RSCT. The Vermont Rural Partnership also played a role in the program's development. | |
