The City of Lincoln, Nebraska, and its partners developed a program called Heart of Lincoln, which promotes the oldest neighborhoods in the city. Part of this program is called My Special Neighborhood which is a curriculum designed for use in the classroom or after school programs. The curriculum includes exercises in mapping, buildings, people, history, and how to make a difference.

The exercises are used in Community Learning Centers throughout Lincoln. However, they can apply to any community.
