Generation Fix: Young Ideas for a Better World shares stories of ordinary kids doing extraordinary things to make their world a better place. Author Elizabeth Rusch also interviewed young people across the country about their ideas to solve hunger, homelessness, discrimination, education and problems with health care and the environment. This is an excellent resource for adults who want to help young people tackle the problems in their communities.

Smart Consumers: An Educator's Guide to Exploring Consumer Issues and the Environment is another pathway to educate for sustainability. This 300-page toolkit includes a Guide with background information on consumerism and the impact of consumer choices on the environment, and a Community Action Guide with project ideas and step-by-step advice on how to organize community-based group projects to make a difference in the community. Excellent resource for grades 6-9 produced by the World Wildlife Fund and The Center for a New American Dream.
