A City Through TimeAugust 2005 A City Through Time Written by Philip Steele
Illustrated by Steve Noon
DK Publishing, 2004
This book follows the evolution of the city through different historical stages. We see the Greek Colony (550 BC), Citizens of Rome (AD 120), the Medieval City (1250), Places and Fountains (1650), The Industrial Port (1880), and finally, Steel and Glass (2005).
Each section also has a detailed illustration of a building important during that period like the Greek temple, the Roman bathhouse, the medieval castle, the 1880s railroad station, and the modern skyscraper. Illustrations are very detailed, and well labeled. In each time period, we are introduced to the community's villain. A tyrant rules the Greek colony, castle officials collect medieval taxes and hungry protestors cause panic at the town hall gates.
