K-12 GIS Education at the Upcoming URISA National Conference

The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) has announced that it will introduce a new educational track focusing on K-12 GIS education at its upcoming national conference.

The conference will be held August 20-23, 2007, in Washington, DC. The K-12 GIS sessions will be held on Thursday, August 23.

All conference attendees are welcome to attend these sessions. Individuals may also attend only the K-12 education track. A separate registration form is located here (PDF).

Sessions will include an introduction to current programs engaging students with GIS, examples of how GIS can be applied to classroom learning and after-school programs, and practical steps for incorporating GIS into curriculums.
