Opportunities for Youth Participation at NLC’s Congressional City Conference

January 2008

More than 150 youth delegates ages 15-18 are expected to participate in NLC’s Congressional City Conference, which takes place March 8-12 in Washington, D.C.

Municipal officials can bring young people who are involved in youth councils or in other youth leadership roles to learn about how federal policy and legislation affects their cities and towns. Youth are considered full delegates in the conference and have the opportunity to participate in all workshops and general sessions listed in the program. In addition, there will be a number of “youth-only” events that will provide context and a framework for the conference, and allow the youth to network and discuss key policy issues with other youth and local elected officials from across the country.

More information about youth involvement at the Congressional City Conference will be made available on the NLC Web site. If you have questions, or if you are interested in bringing youth delegates to the conference, please contact Tiffany Mitchell at fellow@nlc.org or (202) 626-3014.
