Environmental Sustainability: Making Learning Connections

July 2008

Explore ways to introduce sustainability into K-12 classes across the disciplines. This workshop will also examine ways to make facilities, food service, landscaping, student gardens, and community service more environmentally sustainable.

Offered by the Center for ecoliteracy in conjunction with the Bay Area Teacher Development Collaborative, this two-day seminar will take place at The Bay School of San Francisco, San Francisco, Calif.; Aug. 14-15, 2008. There, participants will hear nationally-recognized speakers and meet in small groups according to interest to discuss sustainability in schools. Day one will focus on the role of food service, landscaping and student gardens, and community service in environmental sustainability. Day two’s focus is on curriculum development and support. The goal is to help teachers see, and then share with students, the many opportunities for incorporating sustainability concepts into their course planning, regardless of grade or discipline.
