Influence of Happiness Indicators on Municipal Policy in Victoria, BC, Canada

Starting with Bhutan's Gross National Happiness program in the 1970s, other countries (and even the United Nations) have begun measuring the happiness and well-being of their citizens. This poster focuses on the Happiness Index Partnership (HIP) launched by Victoria, British Columbia—the first municipality in North America to undertake such an initiative. It will examine how and why Victoria's HIP was created, and what effect, if any, it has had on municipal policy.
