Local Policies and Healthy Living Environments
Date: Sunday, April 14
Time: 4:00PM - 5:15PM
Find out what members of the Bridging the Gap research team have to say about a comprehensive multi-year national study that examines local policies and environmental factors likely to determine healthy eating and physical activity among children and adolescents. The session will describe the three policy evaluations tools used for analyzing local government zoning and land development policies and plans related to the built and food environment for jurisdictions surrounding a sample of secondary schools nationwide. It will also include findings from on-site observations of parks and results related to the association between walkability and adolescent weight in communities surrounding those schools.
