Like many other areas, the Chicago region has been hard hit by the foreclosure crisis, with a 200 percent increase in the number of new foreclosures from 2005 to 2011. This session examines how the Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) is working with private collaborators to tackle the shared challenges of housing recovery. Specifically, it will examine two strategies—Employer -Assisted Housing and Commute Options –that have effectively supported foreclosure prevention in the hardest-hit communities.
