Integrated Planning for Military Installations

Date: Tuesday, April 16

Time: 9:00AM - 10:15AM

CM | 1.25

Military installations aren’t just a federal planning concern. This session will focus on meshing regional transportation and planning initiatives with military installation requirements. Drawing on a case study of Hampton Roads, Va., it examines how to better understand land use on both sides of the base “fence line” and how to assess military installation needs within a metropolitan planning organization. Transportation planning initiatives in Hampton Roads, and, specifically, around Naval Station Norfolk—the largest naval installation in the world—will be highlighted.
