Bio: Miriam Gutierrez began her career at the Cook County Office of the Chief Judge before becoming the Latino Outreach Coordinator at Chicago 2016. As part of the 2016 Chicago Olympic bid, Miriam was actively involved in engaging the community and developing campaign strategies to create awareness and support across all of Chicago’s neighborhoods, racial, ethnic, religious, business and political communities. Miriam began her career with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) as the Rail Program Planning Section Chief, leading public involvement and planning for Bureau of Railroads projects. She developed strategies and legislative initiatives to increase revenues, provide fiscal control, and evaluate statewide rail service and system performance problems. Miriam was also responsible for the state rail plan and rail program. In 2012, Miriam was appointed as the first female Hispanic Bureau Chief High Speed and Passenger Rail. In this position, Miriam is responsible for managing the state’s high speed and passenger rail programs and working to ensure the continuation or creation of passenger rail services. Miriam works to foster constructive and productive relationships with private railroad companies, Amtrak, FRA, and the general public. Miriam has played a key role in the delivery of the Chicago to St. Louis 110 MPH High Speed Rail Program. In particular, she has focused on public involvement and outreach efforts through traditional and electronic media. Miriam also led a top to bottom review of the customer experience and implemented improvements through staff training, equipment upgrades, and branding initiatives.

Bio: Currently a Sr. Principal Technical Specialist with PB, leading the station planning and design element of the IDOT high speed rail program management team. Prior to joining PB, I worked for 26 years at the Chicago Transit Authority in a variety of positions.
