In two-thirds of America’s 100 largest cities, an anchor institution is the city’s largest employer. While much has been written about the role of individual anchor institutions in cities, far less has been written about the nonprofit anchor district support corporations— community service corporations (CSCs)—that are helping transform these anchor districts from institutional destinations to vibrant 24/7 live-work districts. This session showcases four CSCs to introduce the important role they play in community revitalization strategies.
