The ULI and APA have co-published a new book, “Pedestrian- and Transit-Oriented Design”. This book provides a conceptual framework for analyzing how pedestrian-friendly a place is. Additionally, the book provides ample documentation of 28 qualities that contribute to pedestrian- and transit-orientation developments. These qualities fall into three groups: essentials, highly desirable characteristics, and nice additions. The book is richly illustrated with examples and the features that contribute to pedestrian and transit-oriented design. It is also provides examples of local code requirements for these specific features from across the United States.
