CREATE and Chicago's Rails

Bio: Jeffrey Sriver joined the Chicago Department of Transportation in 2009 and oversees railroad-related planning and project development initiatives. This includes CDOT’s participation in the CREATE Program, a $3 billion region-wide freight and passenger railroad infrastructure improvement plan. He also leads CDOT’s ongoing Union Station Master Planning efforts in cooperation with Amtrak and Metra. Prior to joining CDOT Jeff was a transportation consultant with Arup, a global engineering and planning consultancy. From 2000 through 2007 he worked for the Chicago Transit Authority in various capacities including General Manager of Strategic Planning, General Manager of Construction, and Manager of Resource Planning. Before joining CTA, Jeff managed projects related to public transit development in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America for a Japan-based international development consulting firm.

Education: Jeff has a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and a Masters in Transportation from MIT.

Past Assignments: Jeff has led research activities and made professional presentations for groups including the American Planning Association, Transportation Research Board, American Public Transportation Association, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, International Air Rail Organization, International Downtown Association, North American Association of Railshippers, American Association of Railroad Superintendents, Lambda Alpha International, National Association of Railroad Passengers, Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association, and Rail~Volution.
