APA’s opening keynote speaker is exceptionally qualified to discuss how public health and planning can collaborate successfully, how the built environment affects community health, and how an active lifestyle benefits people of all ages and backgrounds. As acting U.S. Surgeon General, Rear Admiral Boris Lushniak shares the best scientific information available to the public regarding ways to improve to personal health and the health of the nation. During his career with the U.S. Public Health Service, he has served on response teams for Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters, the September 11 and anthrax attacks, and the 2009 pandemic. A firm believer in leading by example, Dr. Lushniak promotes the core messages of the National Prevention Strategy with his own active lifestyle.
