AICP Packaged Workshops

The AICP Packaged Workshops are services provided to chapters, members, and website visitors to help them identify and create training workshops for planners. These workshops have been reviewed by members and planners for quality and relevance to planning practice. The following can help you organize a successful event in your chapter or organization.

• Review the description of each workshop.
• Determine whether the program is appropriate for your chapter activities.
• Simply contact the presenter and arrange for a mutually suitable time to hold the workshop.

In your discussion:

• determine the speaker fee — most of the speakers have agreed to charge less than $1,000 for their time; the negotiated amount reflects their time away from their job.
• determine whether the speaker would provide the workshop materials, or whether you would have to duplicate their master copy.
• determine whether you need to get copyright permission for any of the materials.
• determine whether the speaker prefers to make his/her own travel arrangements and be reimbursed.

• Your discussion with the workshop speaker gives you an estimate of your cost for the workshop. Use this information to determine the registration fee.
• Select a site that meets the speaker’s audiovisual needs and has the capacity for the projected audience size.
• Market the event.
