Tuesdays at APA Using New Urbanism to Transform Corridors August 1, 2006 Lincolnwood, a first-ring Chicago suburb, developed a new urbanism plan to revitalize its decades-old commercial corridor to transform it into a livable street. Land Vision, Inc., worked with a special task force created by the village to prepare the Corridor Urban Design Plan and Design Guidelines. Attendees at this Tuesdays at APA program learned how the planning and urban design lessons from this study can be applied to other commercial corridors across the Chicago region. About the Speakers Timothy M. Clarke, AICP, has more than 25 years of experience in community and economic development in the Chicago area, specializing in inner-ring suburban redevelopment. Clarke is the first director of development for the Village of Lincolnwood, a position he has held for the last 11 years. Previously, he was the development analyst for Evanston, Ill., and a community development planner for Cook County. Mahender Vasandani is the director of planning and urban design at Land Vision, Inc. and brings exceptional urban design skills and transportation planning experience to the team. Prior to joining Land Vision, Vasandani was the chief planner and acting director of the DuPage County Department of Development and Environmental Concerns. | |
