Before all the sessions, workshops, tours, and receptions began, APA leaders got together for a series of leadership meetings. All APA leadership groups have been busy, and each one had a very full agenda.
On Thursday, May 4, the Leadership Plenary included updates from councils, key committees, and other APA initiatives. It was followed by a reception of the Board of Directors, AICP Commission, Chapter Presidents Council, Divisions Council, and Student Representatives Council at this informal event to discuss items of interest in the planning field.
Also on Thursday, at the AICP Commission Business Meeting, the Commission discussed a plan for the future periodic review of CM providers, a review of Advanced Specialty Certifications, and a plan and timeline proposed by the AICP Membership Committee for reviewing certification standards and associated processes.
At the Board of Directors Business Meeting on Friday, May 5, held at the Marriott Marquis, the board discussed new approaches to our policy and advocacy work, considered ways to advance the APA Foundation's Signature Cause, and reviewed guidelines for the strategic evaluation of partnerships.
The Chapter Presidents Council Business Meeting on Friday at the Marriott Marquis, and adopted a proposal for new Chapter Performance Criteria, which ensure that chapters are providing value to members, and approved amendments to the CPC Bylaws.
Also on Friday, the Divisions Council reviewed current grant offerings and discussed prospects for new seed funding opportunities among individual divisions, among many other topics.
Many thanks to our volunteer leaders for giving their time to APA.
