Since 1970, the Urban Affairs Association (UAA) has promoted the application of knowledge drawn from urban research and practice to support the sustainability of urban communities. UAA is an interdisciplinary professional organization consisting of academics, nonprofit and public sector professionals. UAA holds an annual conference each spring that provides cutting edge research presentations and study tours. Topics covered by the conference include: housing, community development, land use, planning, transport, environmental issues, poverty/welfare, race/ethnicity/gender, economic development, governance, finance, international urban issues, politics, health, education, arts/culture, media (social/traditional forms), urban theory. Registration for the conference and study tours is open to UAA members and non-members.
