Hazard Mitigation and Disaster Recovery Planning Division, APA
Chicago, IL, United States
This Division of APA is titled Hazard Mitigation and Disaster Recovery Planning. Newly formed in 2015, HMDR will promote the integration of hazard mitigation and disaster recovery with mainstream planning such as community comprehensive plans, development strategies and growth management. This integration ultimately involves not just coordination but also synergies and altered design elements that are mutually reinforcing. HMDR is founded on the notion that a wide range of socioeconomic systems in the community can be favorably influenced by greater strength, safety and resiliency, and that the socioeconomic systems will suffer fewer damages when wise and thoughtful policies are fostered.
