This was an interesting session to discuss TIF districts for both commercial, but also a residential TIF district to address rehab. Some great projects to help people get their houses fixed from roofs, sewer connections to trash removal.

Stone Canyon - The Dream and Success of Oklahoma's Largest Ever Planned Development

5

Excellent presentation of developer's opportunities and challenges with a 2,400 acre master-planned development in rural Rogers County near Owasso. Overlapping jurisdictions, infrastructure needs, innovative designs and low-impact development (adaptive reuse of gravel strip mines, on-site detention reservoir for watering golf-course)...all of which were overcome by a strong vision and patience.

Wednesday, October 11, 2017, 4:49 p.m. CDT

Rapid Rehab Rescue

5

Really interesting insights on how to bundle ad valorum tifs, volunteer labor, small contributions, and common-sense code enforcement to create a local rehab program that is quick and effective when compared to similarly-tasked CDBG programs.

Tulsa's Cottage House development zoning standards got a mention!

Wednesday, October 11, 2017, 2:28 p.m. CDT

Legal Aspects of Planning & Development

1

Most of the information was too basic to be useful (e.g. the audience knows what zoning is and how it can to be). Missed opportunity to dive deep into land use law issues specific to Oklahoma.

Wednesday, October 11, 2017, 1:25 p.m. CDT

Planning Ethics

5

Really meaningful interaction and opportunity to learn from other planners in the room. This is a great way to approach Ethics that is a welcome change from presentations from many years ago that were too Socratic.

SQ 777: Impact on our State’s Ability to Plan

5

Drew Edmondson was a great speaker and I enjoyed his humor. The information that he shared w/ the group was really important to an agricultural state, and it was to bad that more voters in the state was able to hear his presentation. His material was really updated.

This would have been an excellent event if it was live. Dawn Jordon is excellent, but having a video presentation caused a downgrade in the rating.
