Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU)opened August 1997,with a strong commitment to the environment, technology, and “connected knowing and collaborative learning".Over half of FGCU's 760 acres are maintained in their natural state and the institution has a growing Center for Environomental and Sustainability Education, a new College of Engineering, and expanding relationships with working professionals in the planning, design, environmental, and engineering fields, endeavoring to prepare professionals to meet an increasing population.
