Maximizing the Financial Advantages of Land Conservation: an Advanced Seminar on Conservation Easements helps landowners and land use professionals meet conservation, financial and planning goals. The program promotes the advantages of easements to increase their use in land management and financial planning. Participants leave this event with a better understanding of the tax code, the easement process, the valuation of conserved land and the potential rewards (and risks).
Instructors are experts in their respective fields including tax law, planning, mineral rights and appraisal.
The course includes a series of three lectures: Understanding Conservation Easements and Section 170(h) of the Tax Code, Understanding Conservation Values and Mineral Right per Section 170(h) and Conservation Easements: Risks, Rewards & Valuation according to Section 170(h). Each workshop section offers participants specific information within the perspective of current tax law, legal decisions and conservation planning practices. Following the lecturers, participants have the opportunity to seek answers to their individual questions at a roundtable of all the expert instructors.
