The Car in 2035: Mobility Planning for the Near Future

APA California Chapter, Inland Empire Section
Riverside, CA

Advances in communication and sensing technology will result in incremental, but rapid change to every aspect of mobility. We will see changes in vehicles, and how we drive; in traffic modeling and planning; and in how we price and pay for our infrastructure. Since beginning a series of informal meetings three years ago, the Car Future Group has been researching, discussing and debating these changes and how our cities and region will accommodate them. These meetings culminated in The Car in 2035: Mobility Planning for the Near Future.
The workshop will include an interactive exercise allowing each participant to plan a future roadway to accommodate autonomous vehicles.  Several copies of the book will also be given away to workshop participants.
Learning Objective:

1. Learn about advances in vehicle automation technology
2. Learn about advances in other vehicle technologies
3. Learn how these changes will affect land use and transportation
