Broadband Plan Release Party
APA Florida Chapter, Promised Lands Section
Fort Myers, FL
The Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council began work on developing a Broadband Comprehensive Plan for Charlotte, Collier, and Lee Counties in August 2011. This effort was supported through a partnership with the Central Florida Regional Planning Council and the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.
The Broadband Planning Project will enable the region to build upon planning efforts that have been undertaken independently to establish an innovative new approach to envisioning Southwest Florida’s future through a Broadband Plan.
The Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council’s (SWFRPC) Comprehensive Broadband Plan is an important step to ensuring the long term economic success of the region in the new emerging digital economy.
This release party is an educational and informative event in partnership between FGCU, the SW Florida Regional Planning Council and the Promised Lands Section APA Florida Chapter. This event is non-promotional. Participants will gain valuable technical knowledge shared by staff for the regional planning council and invited stakeholders and participants in discussions of regional broadband issues. There will be formal presentations, public discussion, and opportunities for questions, answers, and dialogue.
The educational objective will be appropriate for AICP members as they learn new developments in regional planning, economics, and broadband technology. The speakers will draw on professional experience in land use planning and other fields. The content will not be basic in nature, but will be an in depth discussion about critical matters to planners and other professionals.
