Fort Myers, FL
1926 Victoria Ave., Fort Myers, FL 33901
Joint program between APA of Florida - Promised Lands Chapter - and ULI of SW Florida. Complete Streets is a nationwide grassroots movement with participation at various levels from a variety of public and private organizations.
Complete Streets are designed and operated to provide the safest achievable access for all users, including motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians and transit riders. APA has included Complete Streets concepts and discussions in recent publications.
The Lee County Board of County Commissioners and the Metropolitan Planning Organization each passed a Complete Streets Resolution in 2009. An open discussion on Complete Streets concepts and local progress in implementation. This learning session is designed to allow the planning professional, transportation engineers and other professionals and citizens to obtain a better understanding of the challenges of implementing a complete streets program in a municipal setting with existing infrastructure.
The primary training objective will be met through a single presentation, and question and answers from the participants. At the conclusion of the program the participants will have a better understanding of the challenges facing planners and traffic engineers implementing complete streets programs and tools available to all to meet those challenges at the local level.
