Smart & Sustainable Communities Workshop
APA Florida Chapter, Emerald Coast Section
Rosemary Beach , FL
Attendees will hear expert presentations on design principles used at AlysBeach, Rosemary Beach and Seaside, new urbanism concepts, walkable communities, low-impact development, and storm water management. There will be a panel discussion in the afternoon on reducing the Energy Load in Hot, Humid Climates. The panel will explore the building envelope and address major energy loads in southern climates. Each panelist will discuss various design principles and equipment selections such as insulation, roofing, mechanical systems and glazing options.
Panelists are Aaron Leland, Gerard Roofing Technologies Derek Dwyer, DemilecUSA Insulation Rick Rahaim, Water Furnace International. Dave Robau of Gulf Coast Energy Network will discuss the Energy Management and the Energy Star Home Certification Program. There will also be afternoon discussion of going solar and smart home technology.
There will be a town architect led walking tour of Rosemary Beach to close the workshop. The tour is scheduled from 4:45 to 5:45 PM.
