MORE SESSION DETAILS
Visual communication is about making a point and presenting an idea through images, and is one of the most important skills that any planner should develop. Communication is critical in planning, and the way we communicate has changed — now more than ever, there is an expectation for simplicity, ease of use, and strong visuals. When we look at spreadsheets, charts, graphs, maps, and plans in 2D, there is a limit to how much information we can take away for planning and decision making. Tools like 3D help us visualize data and concepts, providing an exciting and extremely informative layer of detail and insight. Explore a variety of 3D applications and visuals, beginning with simple and general and moving through to complex and detailed. Today 3D is a core-enterprise GIS technology, including both traditional desktop scenario-analysis capability and web publishing to help present information to a wider audience. This session will help participants better understand 3D and help build 3D skills, including the use of 3D in data analysis, development review, zoning and growth-capacity analysis, land-use planning, and community engagement.
