MUSE Community + Design

About MUSE Community + Design

MUSE Community + Design is an urban planning and public engagement firm that offers inventive and inspiring solutions to help manage change. Founded in 2014 by Courtney Kashima, AICP, MUSE creates the plans, policies, and processes that help places establish and realize their own goals. Courtney brings more than 20 years of experience in land use, zoning, historic preservation, economic development, and mobility and leads a team of planners, designers, and strategists who employ an equity lens to all of their work. Recent work has included drafting zoning amendments for municipalities, creating websites and apps to engage the public, leading bilingual and bicultural planning processes, and reviewing land use and development decisions.

Recent clients include the Chicago Department of Transportation and Department of Planning and Development, the Chicago Park District, Pace Bus, Metropolitan Planning Council, Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways, the Regional Transportation Authority, Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District, the City of Evanston, the Village of Forest Park, and Lyft/Divvy.

MUSE is based in Chicago, is a certified DBE and WBE, and is 100% woman-owned.
