Multipurpose Path & Streetscape Design

City of Shaker Heights

Shaker Heights, OH

The City of Shaker Heights is seeking proposals from a team of qualified professional engineers, landscape architects and/or designers to prepare detailed design plans, construction drawings and bid documents for an urban multipurpose path and streetscape improvement project within the Van Aken District, Shaker's new downtown.

The project will make infrastructure and streetscape improvements along two key thoroughfares in the district, including bicycle facilities, pedestrian amenities and lighting, landscaping and other improvements designed to enhance the public realm experience.

This project will create a new front door for the Van Aken District and set the design direction for all future public realm improvements. This is an important project intended to fundamentally change the experience of a car-dominated corridor.

All teams must include a registered landscape architect, a licensed civil engineer and a licensed electrical engineer. At least one team member must be pre-qualified by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to manage the ODOT process. The anticipated construction budget is approximately $1.9M-$2.3M.
