Subdivision Regulations Revision

Missoula County, Montana is seeking proposals from consulting firms to provide professional planning services for a project that will include a full revision of the Missoula County Subdivision Regulations. Services desired include improvements in document clarity, updating application and review procedures, modification of design standards, and revision of subdivision impact mitigation provisions. The successful firm/team is expected to develop and facilitate public process and guide the revisions through governing body review. Missoula County anticipates that the successful team will include experts in planning, public participation, and implementation processes.
The overall goal for this project is to rewrite the subdivision regulations in a manner that makes them clear, understandable, and user-friendly and that incorporates design standards that are appropriate for the diverse landscapes and development contexts within the county. The regulatory framework should guide opportunities for growth and development, while balancing protection of the attributes that makes Missoula County a desirable place to live, work, and recreate, such as clean water and air, natural landscapes, working lands, abundant wildlife, a thriving urban area, pleasant small towns, and rural character.
