Economic Development Division
Many of the members of the APA Economic Development Division work in the area of physical and land use planning in tourist destination or resort communities, or in the promotion of tourism as a form of economic development. Tourism can be a major source of an infusion of dollars from outside of any community and is an important element of fiscal sustainability in many communities.
If in your practice of planning you have been called on to create a heritage or cultural tourism plan, plan for the specific transit needs for tourists, develop a convention center or other major attraction, or perhaps even to handle the logistics of special events, you may find specific articles of interest on this page. If you have articles or plans on resort and tourism development that you may like to share with others, please contact the webmaster, so they might be included here, or in our newsletter News & Views.
