Overview

Bus tour of “repurposed” industrial spaces where Pawtucket has attracted arts-related businesses. Learn about the innovative zoning, incentives and outreach that made this economic redevelopment strategy successful. To jumpstart its economy and utilize vacant mill space, the City of Pawtucket has reached out to artists and creative sector companies. Pawtucket is now internationally recognized for attracting hundreds of these small businesses. While touring redeveloped mill spaces, participants will learn about the innovative zoning, incentives and outreach that made this economic redevelopment strategy successful. Participants will hear from developers, artists and economic development professionals during the tour. They will review, step by step, the process that increases municipal tax bases while adding vitality to previously unused spaces.
