Representatives of the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission and the Department of Public Works will present and discuss the development and use of a county-wide complete streets toolkit. The Complete Streets Toolkit guides planners and engineers through the implementation of a complete streets policy, changes in regulations, and presents a typology for different types of streets. The workshop session content will be based on the Complete Streets Toolkit, with applicability to other areas and transferability. The presentation will primarily stress the importance of collaboration between different professionals on a city and county level including: the benefits and challenges of planning and regulation of Complete Streets to change the installation of public street improvements; planning a road project that ensures safe and convenient access for all users; land-use and street design; examples of different types of street designs for commercial, commuter and residential streets; challenges to implementing complete streets; collaborating on the county and local level; accepted policy, regulation and procedures; and funding complete streets with evaluation measures of performance.
