Overview

This session will cover environmental mitigation in transportation planning. The panel will evaluate potential mitigation strategies for mitigation effectiveness and regional coordination. It will also analyze how these strategies could be implemented and how aspects of mitigation programs can also reduce the time and significant delays associated with the current process of securing approval of affected resource agencies. The session will include a case study of the 527-acre Sand Creek Conservation Bank, a Conservation Bank/wetland mitigation project established for wetlands, vernal pool branchiopods, California Tiger Salamander, and San Joaquin kit fox. This case study will touch on many aspects of bank reconnaissance, entitlement, establishment, and management.
