Statistics available today indicate that by the year 2030 the senior population in Florida will increase by approximately 30%. With the increase of an aging demographic comes transit dependence and the daunting task of outreach and education. The good news is that more and more seniors are using handheld technologies and smartphones on a daily basis. Learn how these technologies can be used to educate your riders about important information concerning your system and as well as real-time information available in the palm of their hand. You will also learn about outreach events, educational materials, and resources available from Florida’s Safe Mobility for Life Coalition to help increase ridership among older adults 65 years and older. There will be an opportunity to provide feedback on some of the barriers associated with older adults using public transportation and potential solutions to overcome those barriers.
