Overview

How are we doing in our planning efforts to realize more vibrant and healthy communities in Delaware and Maryland? What can we do, individually and collectively, to move this process forward? This session will be a follow-up to Chris Leinberger’s keynote presentation about the connection between health and the built environment. Mr. Leinberger will facilitate this interactive forum and lead a discussion with a panel of top planning and public health officials from Delaware and Maryland who will provide their reaction to the keynote presentation. Each panelist will highlight how their respective agencies are addressing the connection between health and the built environment, identifying key accomplishments and planning activities, along with significant challenges that have an impact on these efforts. Participants will then be engaged in prioritizing goals and actions that each State can take to revitalize communities and achieve the vision expressed in the keynote address. The strategies and actions identified in this session will be documented for future use in planning and advocating for public policy changes.
