This session will tour two unique locations in northern Delaware whereby different planning approaches and demographics are evident in their local agricultural practices and in providing healthy food choices, education outreach, school curriculum and job skill reform, and other community care. From a youth run garden and historic farmstead to an innercity neighborhood committed to taking back their community for a brighter future, participants will learn about the origins and contrasts, unique characteristics and challenges associated with each of these innovative community projects. The session will explore how these two contrasting projects support APA policies and practices for sustaining and rejuvenating places as well as how they contribute to fostering education while eliminating common food deserts.
