Our Maryland and Delaware towns are on the front lines for addressing change. The actions that towns are taking today to lower energy costs, increase pedestrian friendly transportation, maintain high quality of life for citizens, and to encourage waste reduction all have benefits that influence sustainability and climate change. The towns that are scheduled to present will focus on strategies and actions that they have deployed in their towns that encourage sustainability, increase the quality of life and provide climate benefits. Many of the actions that lead to smart or green communities often have co-benefits that also reduce the future risks to climate change. This panel seeks to begin connecting the dots on how actions at the local level have far reaching benefits. This panel will focus on connecting those dots to sustainability and climate change and how participants can implement actions in their organization and municipality.
