The last time the household travel survey (HTS) was completed for the Anchorage area was in 2002. Lots of changes in the demographics, civic infrastructure and transportation network have happened since then. Household travel surveys provide information on how people travel daily for work, recreation and shopping so that a complete picture of how the roads, trails, highways and other transportation facilities are used daily. This understanding will help to identify existing and future deficiencies in the transportation system and informs how improvements are prioritized. This session will provide detailed methodology and results of the AMATS Regional Household Travel Survey including a pilot study and main survey conducted in 2014 to capture travel behavior within Anchorage and areas of the Mat-Su Borough.
